Gainesville, FL | Part-Time | $40/hour | ~20 hours/week
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented accountant to help build our treasury function from the ground up. We are a home for all students of curiosity and academic passion — a place with no academic ceiling to hold them back. We're a mission-driven, nonprofit K-12 school dedicated to giving local kids a great and affordable education, and this is an ideal opportunity for an accounting professional looking to re-enter the workforce, transition from full-time to part-time, or find meaningful work without the demands of a high-pressure full-time role.
You'll be our first on-site financial professional, working with a roughly $4 million annual budget. We use QuickBooks, and you'll help evaluate, refine, and build on our existing accounting system — strengthening transaction tracking, financial reporting, and compliance. You will report directly to school leadership, with potential support from an outside CPA firm as needed. We're looking for someone who brings not just technical skill but strong personal integrity. Honesty and sound ethical judgment are essential in this role.
This is a self-directed position with genuine autonomy — a great fit for someone with a solid accounting background who wants meaningful, rewarding work on a manageable schedule.
• Background in accounting — degree, professional experience, or both
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Intelligent, self-motivated, and reliable
• Strong sense of honesty, integrity, and ethical judgment
• Comfortable working independently and building processes from scratch
• Familiarity with nonprofit or school accounting a plus, but not required
• Looking for flexible part-time work with a healthy pace
